We have subscribed to Lynda.com for one year. You can now start scheduling your 2 week training. The first training session starts on September 14th and ends on the 27th and then continues every two weeks. The volunteers who tested the website have all been enthusiastic in their praise. You can go on the website and see the list of programs they carry. If you don’t have a home computer we can arrange computer time here in the office. Please spread the word.

We are joining 1439 in their Annual Hog Roast. It will be on Saturday October 9th. It will be from 1PM to 6PM with dinner to be served at 3PM. Please bring a covered dish to go with the pulled pork. There will be speakers, games for the kids, washer tournament and more. Call 1439 (314-644-6111) to RSVP and let them know what you are bringing.

KMOV has an immediate opening for a Backpack Journalist. Looking for someone who can present stories in live newscasts. Must be able to gather, investigate, log and write and APPEAR IN news stories, special reports, and series to be used on TV news programs and news specials. Must use creative and artistic talent to produce creative and orginal news stories and news features for inclusion in KMOV-TV news programming. Must have the ability to work under pressure with assigned deadline. Ability to interact productively and positively with fellow employees. Should have journalism background. Should have good verbal abilities. Must be assertive. 3-5 years reporting and/or producing experience in a medium to major market. Excellent writing skills.

We had a hot day for our 16th annual Golf Tournament at Emerald Greens. The winners were the Channel Nine team of Dick Skalski, Brian Holder, Scott Brooks and Joel Gremaud. We are planning for the Labor Day Parade and Picnic. The Parade will be downtown on September 6 at 9a.m. We will assemble at 8a.m. at 15th and Olive. After the parade, there is a picnic hosted by all the IBEW locals. It will be at Wilmore Park. Food will be served at noon. The kids will have several activities to choose from: jumping cages, pony rides and petting zoo. There will be a Washer Tourney and live music for the adults. If you plan to attend the Parade or Picnic, please call the union office so we can order parade shirts and make catering plans. (314-664-0202)
